Gurteen is a family run business which was established in Suffolk in 1784. The business is still retained and managed by family members, and the passion for men’s clothing burns as fiercely today as it did then.
We are located in the very heart of our community here in Haverhill and one could say that we have grown up together. We have a close relationship with the Town, schools, and our employees – many of whom have had previous generations working here before them!
The company started life making smocks which was the general utility garment at that time and as the years moved on, so too did the clothing. From making army uniforms during WW1 and WW2 to measuring up and making the suits for the English Rugby team, the company has always met a challenge and has always evolved and embraced change. Gurteen now operates a balanced multi-channel business that embraces retail, wholesale and e-commerce. We are lucky to have over 400 independent stockists throughout the country and these retailers are the heart of the business. None of the above would be possible without our design and production team who are constantly on the move, attending fabric shows around the world and looking for the next best thing! This team are also responsible for developing, ‘Own Label’ ranges for our larger Store customers such as John Lewis, Charles Tyrwhitt, Reiss, and Fat Face. It is this connection to the High Street that allows us to keep our fingers on the button, ensuring that we evolve as fashion and trends dictate.
We care about your clothing, and we care what fabrics are used. We care how they are made, and we care about the people that bring it all together.
